"Blue Eye Video provides our customers with the ability to make
informed choices," Chris Browne, airport manager at Washington Dulles,
told IHS Jane's . "Dulles passengers can use this new service to
eliminate the guess-work from selecting which checkpoint to use.
"In addition to providing passengers with the information they need to self-select to the shortest queue, Blue Eye Video also provides TSA managers with the information they need to make timely staffing decisions."
The system uses overhead cameras to measure constantly the number of people in line and the number exiting the security checkpoint. From this data and company-developed image processing algorithms, wait times at the mezzanine checkpoints are calculated in real time.
The system took advantage of security cameras already in place with the airport installing a few more, said Browne, who added that the system had been working reliably.

We are proud to announce that Blue Eye Video, innovative queue management provider, was ranked 26th in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 France - 2012.
Deloitte recognizes the 50 fastest growing French technology companies with the highest percentage revenue growth over five years (2007-2011). Winning this award is a great success for Blue Eye Video!
No more queues! since 2006 Blue Eye Video focused on the passenger experience enhancement. After Paris Charles de Gaulle airports (7th worldwide) and Dubai airports(11th worldwide), the French company became the first one to equip an U.S. airport with an automatic wait time measurement and prediction. “Blue Eye Video provides TSA Managers with the information they need to make timely staffing decisions", said Christopher U. Browne, Dulles Airport Manager. Blue Eye Video is still looking for growing its partner ecosystem for a better passenger experience.
Our partners at Dulles International Airport have made press release and display Blue Eye Video powered wait time to passenger in real time.
“Dulles International Airport has become the first airport in the USA to introduce a video analytics system that automatically calculates wait times at the Main Terminal’s east and west security mezzanine checkpoints.
The system, developed by Blue Eye Video Company, displays the real-time wait times in the terminal and on the Airports Authority’s website (www.mwaa.com/dulles) for desktop and mobile devices. Since both mezzanines are connected beyond security, passengers have the option to select the line with the shorter wait.
“Real-time data puts the power in our customers’ hands,” said Chris Browne, vice president and Dulles Airport manager. “Dulles passengers can use this new service to eliminate the guesswork in selecting which checkpoint to use.”
The system uses video recognition analytics to constantly measure the number of people in line and the number of people completing the security screening process. From this data and algorithms tailored for Dulles, wait times for the airport’s security mezzanine checkpoints are calculated in real time.”
"Blue Eye Video also provides TSA Managers with the information they need to make timely staffing decisions..."said Chris Browne, vice president Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and Dulles Airport manager."
